Benitez hits out at Chelsea fans

Under-fire interim Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez confirmed that he will leave the club at the end of the season and has criticised fans for the negative impact they have had during his time at Stamford Bridge.

When Benitez was appointed back in November, he never really stood much of a chance as he was greeted by boos in his first match at home to Manchester City. Many fans had their “Rafa Out” banners ready before the Blues had played under the Spaniard and since then, his popularity has never really increased.

It must have been tough for the ex-Liverpool boss to take as he is a well-respected manager that has won titles in a number of countries, but at Chelsea, he hasn’t been given the opportunity to build his own squad or show what he is capable of.

Speaking after the 2-0 win over Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Wednesday evening, the interim manager let his feelings known.

He said: “Chelsea gave me the title of interim manager, which is a massive mistake. I’m the manager.

“The fans are not helping us. At the end of the season I will leave. They don’t have to worry about me.”

“So this group of fans are not making any favourites with the team and they are singing and wasting time preparing banners.

“They have to concentrate on supporting the team, that’s what they have to do. “

When you head over to betvictor.com, you can see that bets are already being taken on who the next Chelsea manager might be as Benitez is on his way out.

At the moment, former Blues boss and fans-favourite Jose Mourinho is leading the way as he is at 8/11 to take charge of the European Champions for the second time.

The supporters would love to have The Special One back, but it all depends on what he wants to achieve at Real Madrid.

However, the club can’t start thinking about new managers just yet as they still have eleven Premier League games to go.

Chelsea have to finish in the top four this campaign and those looking at a Premier League bet can back them doing just that at 2/7.
